West James Head Pro
Donna Austin

Donna is a full service professional who is certified through USPTR and USPTA. She is a member of the United States Stringing Association and the Head/Penn Advisory Team. Donna ,after assisting the former Head Pro for two years will be stepping up into the postition of Head Pro.

Teaching Experiences
Successfully coached 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 USTA Teams, taking them to District and Sectional Competition.

Worked with St.. Louis St. Louis aces in teaching and overseeing classes for ball boys and girls.
Tennis Director since 1995 of Lake St. Louis outdoor teaching program, building it into one of the largest outdoor programs in the St. Charles area. ( an average of 150 children per season.)
Received a certification in teaching wheelchair tennis at a recently attended New England USPTA Conference. Also attended two Bollettieri Workshops at that time.
Assisted former WJC Head Pro, Jacques Faulise, with teaching programs and tennis activities from 2005 to present. At this time was part of the coaching team that successfully brought the West James Ladies Interclub Team to 1st place in their 2005 through 2007 Season. She will sit on the board of the Gateway Ladies Interclub for the 2007-2008 Season.
Worked with the Lindenwood Ladies University Team during the 2007 Season.
Donna has been instrumental in starting the St. Charles County Tennis Ladder and the St. Charles County Pros Association and will continue to be actively involved in both.
Helped with the clinics at the Tennis Hall of Fame during induction week of Pete Sampras.
Playing Experience
Donna has successfully competed at the 4.5 level including USTA and Interclub Matches.

Lessons may be scheduled up to 7 days in advance. To cancel lessons without charge, a 36 hour notice prior to scheduled time is required. All other cancellations or no shows will be billed for lessons.

Group or private lessons may be set up on a seasonal basis at a regular start time by paying one week or more in advance throughout the season. the same cancellation policy as stated above will apply.

Programs

Junior Tennis Programs

West James is proud to offer programs for players of all levels and abilities. Placement is based on each players skill level. The teaching staff will determine final placement.

All programs will be directed by West James Courts certified instructors.


Junior Tennis Program

ELITE PROGRAM

This class is for those players dedicated to and willing to work towards being the best they can be. Mastery of topspin and underspin and spin serve is a must. This class emphasis is placed on conditioning and physical fitness.
MATCH PLAY

These classes are offered to High School Prep and Elite program players. Each Saturday will consist of supervised match play for both singles and doubles. Shot selection, pattern play and teamwork will be discussed. All styles of play, in keeping with player level, will be emphasized.
 DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM
10 years & up


This class is for beginners or for those students still mastering the basic skills of ball striking, movement and judging the ball. Fundamentals of groundstrokes, including footwork and swing mechanics, as well as the serve will be the basis for this class.


HIGH SCHOOL PREP PROGRAM


Designed for high school aged students or those who pass a skills test to be eligible for this class. Advanced ball striking skills will be emphasized, such as topspin, underspin and spin serves. The focus of this class will be to prepare each student for competitive play and to enhance their ability to compete for a spot on their varsity squads.

Specials for Junior Lesson Participants
All juniors participating in WJC teaching or league programs may use additional court time at the cost of $5 per visit for their share of court time with the following guidlines:

1.
Courts must be used on a non-reserved basis only
2. Player's name must be listed on lesson roster at front desk
3. Any other players on the courts with them will be expected to pay their share of court time per hour at the WJC normal hourly rates as applicable to their situation.

Clinics
Beginner Introduction to Tennis
 Clinics / 1 hour per week / 5 weeks
( Basic instruction for adults & children in developing skills to play recreational tennis.)

Jean Zerr
Jean has become an institution at West James. She began as a customer in her early days. Fell in love with the game and joined the staff at West James. For the past 25 years she helped manage the club, coordinate Tennis Leagues and earned her teaching Pro Status. Currently she teaches beginner classes for Adults and Children. Jean is a master at teaching the basic fundamentals of the tennis stroke. Starting out with the right stroke is the key to becoming a good player.

ADULTS
Clinics 1 hour per week / 5 weeks
(classes run consecutively every 5 weeks call WJC for starting dates and sign-ups)
MONDAYS
Beginner I 7:30- 8:30pm
Beginner II 6:30 - 7:30pm

The following types of instructional programs are offered at West James Courts:

(Beginners)
Players are taught basic skills, improved hand-eye coordination, and basic singles and doubles tactics.

(Intermediate)
Students who have mastered basic stroke techniques and learned to be consistent in their games will be taught to improve their skills and learn to hit a second serve, approach shots, passing shots, and other shots. Singles and doubles tactics will also be taught.

(Advanced)
Selective individuals will be taught to improve their groundstrokes, consistency, and volley control. They will develop a second serve, and to place the ball, as well as other advanced skills. They are expected to be tournament players and become champions.
